On Tuesday a construction worker was hit by a suspected drunken driver.
According to the Utah Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Tuesday afternoon when a contract laborer for the Utah Department of Transportation was fixing a barrier guard rail at the point where Interstate 215 connects with Interstate 80 eastbound. A woman in her 30s ran onto the shoulder, through the work zone and hit the worker. She said that she had hit some ice and skidded but there was no ice on the roadway and when police talked to her they could smell alcohol. They then searched her vehicle and found containers of alcohol. She was subsequently arrested on suspicion of DUI.
The Utah Highway Patrol went on to say that the 40 year old worker had suffered injuries that were not thought to be life threatening and was in fair condition.
