Salt Lake City residents are grieving after a one car crash killed three people last Saturday.
According to the Utah Highway Patrol, three teenage passengers were killed in a car accident on Interstate 80 last Saturday, while the driver of the car was seriously injured. According to police reports the 23 year-old driver was in the parking lot of the Salt Lake International Airport at about 5:00 AM on Saturday morning, when police attempted to perform a traffic stop. The driver fled from police, who initially chased a car, but reportedly called off the chase before the crash.
Police believe that the driver was going close to 100 miles per hour when it appears that he made a last second decision to turn on to I-215, causing the car to roll. Police are still unsure why the driver chose to flee.
The investigation into the crash is still ongoing. But the initial reports indicate that one of the passengers was the driver’s girlfriend.
